RACE 1 – 1000M

Summary: Majority of these two-year olds are unraced. One with race experience include MAGNUSIFICENT was green on debut and had to be checked off heels 300m out then eased back and taken wide before flying home on the outside for 7th in the Maribyrnong Trial 3.3L off the winner. HOLY RIGHT finished off well also in the same race and the experience down the straight will benefit the colt. From the trials, watch ANDRE ROO HOO, DORMELLO and DIGITALISM. Also watch out for the untrialled MAGNUS REIGN from the Hore-Lacy stable.

Prediction: no. 4 – MAGNUSIFICENT straight out.

RACE 2 – 1600M

Summary: Several with strong chances. HAPPY TRAILS was very unlucky at the Valley last outing in the Crystal Mile. The four year-old was pushed in my HE’S REMARKABLE then had to be eased of heels and taken wide and finished off very well to be the run of the race. Ollie jumps back aboard with Williams suspended. Rises 6kgs however. HE’S REMARKABLE rises 6.5kgs since running into 3rd place at the Valley. The James trained galloper has an excellent record over the distance and I am sure the big track will suit. EREWHON is 3rd up after two solid performances at Rosehill. Won the Spring Champion Stakes last year. Can go back or sit just off the pace. Big chance. GOLD SALUTE has been running in group and listed class so will appreciate the drop back to this lot. His run in the Rupert Clarke was sound and then finished off well in the Seymour Cup (quicker time than Crystal Mile). Nash in the saddle is a bonus. Also watch for SHENZHOU STEEDS and ERASET.

Prediction: no. 5 – GOLD SALUTE each way at good value.

RACE 3 – 2000M

Summary: COUNT ENCOSTA climbs to the 10 furlongs with two runs under his belt including a solid 4th at Rosehill last run. Drawn wide but will go back and has a strong finish which was seen in the Chairman’s at Doomben in May. TEXAN WARNEY is the form runner however this is his 11th run in this preparation. Watch for him to be coming home strong on the outside. Nigel Blackiston’s MODEL TO NITE is running well and only has 53kgs on her back.  Ran well against Midnight Martini and then two runs after hit the line strongly in the Terang Cup. Flemington will suit this mare. THE BLACK OAK and SEA GALLEON have place hopes.

Prediction: no. 3 – COUNT ENCOSTA in a tough race.

RACE 4 – 1400M

Summary: Class runners are the 1 and 2, AMAH ROCK and MAHISARA, with form around Karuta Queen, Miss Stellabelle, Hot Snitzel and Combat Kitty. Peter Snowden couldn’t have his runner MENTAL going any better and the combination with McEvoy could well notch up another win. I like the Lloyd Williams TONED over the 1400m. The colt has been impressive this preparation after racing greenly at his only start over the 5 furlongs at Flemington before being put away to mature. She will drop back and watch for her running on. Take note of track bias in the opening three races.

Prediction: no. 5 – TONED for value.

RACE 5 – 1200M

Summary:  The freak mare BLACK CAVIAR will notch up her 16th win from as many starts. Will Moody trifecta the race?

Prediction: no. 3 – BLACK CAVIAR.

RACE 6 – 1600M

Summary:  Run this race five time and we would probably see five different winners.  A race packed with star gallopers including several dropping back to the mile after competing in the Cox Plate. JIMMY CHOUX, WALL STREET, KING’S ROSE and SECRET ADMIRER all produced excellent runs. I was on the latter and will give the mare another chance. Two from two at 1600m including a massive win in the Epsom and I believe she will relish running around Flemington.

Prediction: no. 8 – SECRET ADMIRER in what should be a fantastic race.

RACE 7 – 2000M

Summary: SKYERUSH backs up from last weekend where she ran 4th in the Myer Classic. Should be at her best now that she has had four runs to date and 2000m sure to suit.  Another with solid form around quality gallopers is PLATINUM PASSION. INFLUENTIAL MISS 4th up will run on well. Zahra replaced King for the Pat Carey six year-old.

Prediction: no. 5 – SKYRUSH straight out.

RACE 8 – 2600M

Summary: BAUER should just win this. Should’ve won the Geelong Cup and was sound in the Herbert Power. Watch out for BOOM ‘N’ ZOOM.

Prediction: no. 1 – BAUER straight out.

RACE 9 – 1400M

Summary: A tough race to finish the day. AMAETHON’s last three races have been in group 3 and listed company. This is easier today and likely to be up there at the finish.  STIRLING GROVE’s form has been sound around Black Caviar and Sister Madly. ORBIT EXPRESS is a track/distance specialist and must be included.

Prediction: no. 3 – AMAETHON on the nose.
